Top-rated independent appliance repair across the Midwest

Oven Repair — Book a Visit Today

We repair ovens and ranges that won't heat, run hot, or throw error codes, and we work on all major brands as an independent shop across our twelve Midwest states. An oven usually quits in stages. The roast takes an extra half hour, then the preheat beep starts lying, then one day nothing gets hot at all. Behind all of that sits a short list of parts: bake and broil elements, igniters on gas models, temperature sensors, thermostats, control boards, plus door hinges and gaskets that let heat leak into the kitchen. A visit starts with questions about what you baked and when it changed. Then we test the element or igniter for draw, read the sensor's resistance, and check the door seal and hinge tension. Call us and tell us what the oven is doing.

The oven symptoms we hear most

  • Cookies burn on the bottom, raw on top Bake element cycling wrong, a failed temperature sensor, or a broiler that never fires
  • Gas oven clicks and clicks but never lights Weak glow-bar igniter that no longer pulls enough current to open the safety valve
  • Set it to 350, oven runs closer to 425 Drifting sensor or thermostat, sometimes correctable by calibration and sometimes a parts issue
  • Door won't shut flush and heat pours out Sagging hinges, a crushed door gasket, or a warped inner panel
  • Display shows a code and the oven locks itself Control board fault, latch motor failure, or a self-clean lockout that never cleared

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Confirm the oven breaker is all the way on. A double-pole breaker can trip on one leg, which leaves the display lit while the heat is gone.
  • 2Watch through the window during preheat and see whether the bottom element glows evenly, or whether the gas igniter glows orange without lighting.
  • 3Run a fingertip around the door gasket and feel for hard spots, gaps, or tears that would let hot air escape.
  • 4Set an oven thermometer on the center rack, then compare it with your setting after a full twenty-minute preheat.

Jeff D.Clinton Township, MI

“The scheduler actually listened to the symptoms and sent the guy with the right parts.”

Priya N.Lee's Summit, MO

“Dishwasher stopped mid-cycle full of water. They walked me through draining it on the phone before the visit even happened.”

Oven Repair — quick answers

Why does my oven take so long to preheat?

Usually one heat source is doing all the work. A failed broil element or a lazy igniter leaves the bake side struggling alone, and a sensor reading high can cut the cycle short too. Testing tells us which one it is. Call us with the model number.

Can a bad oven sensor be fixed, or does it need replacing?

Sensors are sealed probes, so they get replaced instead of repaired. Good news is the part sits at the back wall and comes out with two screws. We measure its resistance cold before we decide anything.

Is a clicking gas oven dangerous?

Take unlit gas seriously. If you smell gas, shut the supply valve, open windows, and step outside before you call. Clicking with no smell usually means the ignition circuit is trying and failing, and that's a repair rather than an emergency.

Should I use self-clean on an older oven?

Self-clean drives cavity temperatures very high, and that heat is hard on door latches, thermal fuses, and control boards. On older ranges we'd rather you hand clean. Plenty of our no-heat calls come in the day after a self-clean cycle.

Does hard water affect an oven?

Not the way it wrecks a dishwasher. But steam ovens and steam-clean cycles do build scale in their reservoirs and lines, and mineral crust can plug the water port. If your oven has a steam feature, mention it when you call.

Do you repair ovens in basement kitchens and second units?

Yes. Stairs and tight landings are normal for us across the Midwest. Tell us about the access when you schedule so we can plan for it. We work on wall ovens, freestanding ranges, and slide-ins from all major brands.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form and describe what you hear, smell, or see. An error code helps. So does a puddle. We ask the brand and rough age so the van carries the parts we are likely to need.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

Our technician tests the machine instead of guessing: water lines, heating elements, drain pumps, control boards. Then we explain what failed in plain words before any wrench turns.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and clean up

Common parts ride with us, so a lot of repairs finish on that first visit. Special-order parts get scheduled right away. We run the cycle with you standing there, then haul off the old part and the packaging.

Why homeowners call us

  • Hard water is our specialtyMidwest water leaves scale on everything it touches. Crusted dishwasher spray arms. Clogged ice maker lines, and washers and water heaters full of mineral buildup. We know what that grit does to valves and seals, so we treat the cause instead of the symptom.
  • Basement laundry roomsBasement setups fail differently than upstairs ones, between the long drain runs, the cold concrete, and lint packed into a vent that runs through the rim joist. We check the venting and the drain path too, not only the machine, so the same problem does not come back.
  • Freeze-thaw season readyGarage freezers quit in January. Ice makers stop when the supply line freezes, and dryers labor when the vent hood ices over. Seasonal swings break appliances in fairly predictable ways, and those are the first things we look at on a winter call.
  • Independent, all major brandsWe are not tied to any manufacturer, so we work on whatever is sitting in your kitchen or laundry room: refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, washers, dryers, freezers. One shop, one call, whatever badge is on the door.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and the rest.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so, often right on the phone.
