Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Check that both water faucets are open all the way and the hoses aren't kinked behind the machine.
- 2Pull the drain hose out of the standpipe and see whether it's shoved down so far it siphons.
- 3If yours has a filter door at the bottom of a front-loader, open it and clear the debris trap into a shallow pan.
- 4Reset the breaker for the laundry circuit once, and write down any error code that shows up when the machine restarts.

Do you work on both top-loaders and front-loaders?
Yes. Both styles come through our schedule every week, high-efficiency top-loaders without an agitator included. We're an independent shop and repair all major brands, so we're not stuck with one manufacturer's lineup or one type of drive system.
My washer is in the basement. Is that a problem?
No. Basement laundry rooms are normal here. We carry what we need down the stairs and work in tight spots beside a floor drain or utility sink. If you can clear a path to the machine, we get started quicker.
Could hard water be causing my problem?
Often, yes. Mineral scale narrows inlet screens and coats heating elements, and over time it stiffens valves. It also traps detergent residue that turns into odor. We check those spots on nearly every visit, since the Midwest gives us plenty of practice.
How long does a typical repair take?
Plenty of washer repairs wrap up in one visit once we know the cause. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you that day and set a return time. Diagnosis usually takes the first part of the appointment.
Is it worth repairing an older washer?
Depends on the machine and what failed. A pump or lid switch on a solid ten-year-old washer is usually worth doing. A cracked outer tub is a different conversation. We'll lay out what's wrong and let you decide.
What should I tell you when I call?
Brand, roughly how old it is, and what the machine does wrong. Sounds help a lot: grinding, squealing, a loud thump on spin. Any error code on the display is useful too. Call us with that in hand.
